Ankou is a Reaper demon created by Death in order to reap the souls of the dead into their afterlife.

Personality

Alistair is characterized by being bold, rude, boastful, and cold. He adheres to a lot of philosophies from "toxic masculinity", including a repulsion to doing anything that might be misconstrued as "gay", including holding Braxton's hand, despite Braxton needing physical contact to telepathically speak. In addition to that, he finds violence and aggression to be admirable and respectable traits, and those who don't agree he sees as bleeding-hearts.

As a Donner, he embodies selfishness and emptiness, and that lack of fulfillment becomes a driving factor in his desire to put others down, particularly when threatened with insecurity.

Having a temper, he can act out without thinking when he is annoyed or enraged, although he often regrets his actions rapidly when he contains himself. When his temper is not flaring up, he instead has a softer and more tolerant side that can sometimes come out, but due to his hang-ups with his masculinity, he is opposed to being too open about it. However, he is fine that Braxton, as an empath, is very aware of how much he does care about their friendship and the few people he is attached to in his life.

Extending off his temper, he has a much darker side that is entangled with his bloodlust as a Donner. In a frenzy, he is capable of ruthless and violent cruelty, even towards loved ones. In this state, usually the sight or taste of blood is the only thing that could bring him down and stabilize him again. This mood is rare for him, but a very dangerous reality for those he spends long periods of time around.

Pre-Arc I: Before Braxton Met Garmr

Alistair was born to a working class family in a strained marriage. While still a toddler, his father left his mother, leading to him to not only be raised by a single mother, but to be resented by his mom as the scapegoat for her failed marriage.

Thus began a period of neglect, where she became strict with various rules around the house that Alistair would inevitably fail to follow, and she would consequently deny him food and lock him in his room for long stretches of time. Eventually, he stopped attempting to please her or follow rules, and began behaviorally taking after the pet dogs as he ran around the house on hands and feet, and growled at his mother when she scolded him. In her frustration, her neglect escalated to occasional physical abuse, back-handing him or pushing him to the floor when he got into feral tantrums over lack of food and lack of stimulation in his empty room.

By the time he was eight, he had grown too weak from malnutrition to continue acting out. In desperation for food he was still being deprived, he began tearing out pages from books and eating them. His resistance against his mother drastically cut down, much to her relief.

At first only doing so when frightened, Alistair began retreating under his bed often, and eventually took to sleeping there during the night. He began having dreams and fantasies of eating his mother, and desired deeply to bite her hard enough to break skin. One day, he was delirious with hunger and sprang upon her as she was cooking in the kitchen, only to be effortlessly shoved away. Taking a kitchen knife, he pounce back upon her with advantage now, and stabbed her to death, before going into a frenzy to tear off pieces of her flesh and eat it while she was still warm. This event started his transformation into a Donner.
